YOUR JOURNEY, DAY BY DAY

Day 1: Arrival Palopo Bua Airport – Into the Highlands – Kete Kesu  

Welcome at Palopo Bua Airport by your guide Hendrik. Scenic 3-hour drive to Tana Toraja through forests & mountain passes. Afternoon visit Kete Kesu – one of Toraja’s oldest villages with 400-year-old Tongkonan houses and buffalo stone graves.

Day 2: Meet Toraja – South Toraja Culture Tour  

Full day cultural immersion:  

1.  Lemo – Royal cliff graves with rows of "Tau Tau" wooden statues guarding ancestors  

2.  Sangrapuang – Sacred baby graves inside living trees, a unique Toraja tradition  

3.  Tampang Allo – Natural cave burial site with ancient "peti" wooden coffins  

4.  Karuaya Village – Walk through an authentic village, meet locals in traditional houses  

Lunch included. Evening free to explore Rantepao town.

Day 3: Rambu Solo Ceremony + Traditional Market  

Today is the heart of Toraja: Attend an authentic Rambu Solo funeral ceremony. A 3-day celebration of life, music, dancing, and buffalo sacrifice. Your guide explains rituals & etiquette so you experience it with respect.  

Afternoon: Bolu Traditional Market – see buffalo trading, Toraja textiles, and daily local life.

Day 4: North Toraja – Nature & Megalithic Tour  

Explore Toraja’s landscapes: Palawa – traditional village with perfect row of Tongkonan houses. Scenic drive to Tinimbayo Hill for endless rice terrace views. Continue to Batutumonga – “Land Above the Clouds” viewpoint. Afternoon: Bori Megalithic Stones – ancient stone site for ceremonies + Lombok Parinding Cave with 100+ year-old burial jars.

Day 5: Toraja – Sengkang – Lake Tempe Floating Village  

6-hour drive down from the mountains to Sengkang, land of the Bugis. Afternoon canoe boat trip on Lake Tempe. Visit floating fishing villages, meet a Bugis family, enjoy coffee + fried bananas on the lake. Sunset on the water if weather allows.

Day 6: Sengkang – Kajang – Bira Beach  

Early departure to Bira, South Sulawesi’s tropical paradise. En route stop at Kajang Amatoa Village – meet the "Black Tribe" who live without technology, wearing black clothes by tradition. Learn their simple, sustainable way of life. Arrive Bira late afternoon, white sand beach time.

Day 7: Bira – Coastal & Cliff Tour  

Morning: Visit Tana Beru – traditional boat-building village where Phinisi ships are made by hand without blueprints.  

Afternoon: Point Zero Bira – easternmost tip of Sulawesi + Aparalang Cliff – dramatic limestone cliffs over turquoise sea. Perfect for photos.  

Overnight: Bira Beach | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 8: Bira – Island Hopping & Snorkeling  

Full day boat trip: Liukang Island + Kambing Island. White sand, crystal water, coral reef. Snorkeling included. Beach BBQ lunch on the island. Return to hotel late afternoon.  

Overnight: Bira Beach | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9: Bira – Makassar – City Tour  

Morning free time in Bira for beach or relax. Afternoon 6-hour drive to Makassar. Short city tour: 99-Dome Mosque – Makassar’s iconic landmark + Fort Rotterdam – 400-year-old Dutch fort. Sunset at Losari Beach.

Day 10: Makassar Airport – Departure  

Transfer to Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport for your flight home. End of tour. Thank you for traveling South Sulawesi with us!
